LUCY SMITH ART

PET PORTRAIT AND WILDLIFE ARTIST

Hello, i'm Lucy, a professional pet portrait artist living and working in London, United Kingdom.

Since loving animals and art for as long as i can remember, i decided to combine the two when i was 16 and since then, i have produced hundreds of portraits for customers and art exhibitions. I studied Biology at university in which i specialised in ecology and conservation, which inspires lots of my art.

My pet portraits are created on a commission basis for clients across the world. I draw in a highly detailed, realistic style of all species and breeds of animals. My art consists of the highest quality of materials which include, Faber-castell Polychromos and Caran D'ache Luminance Pencils.

About

I started drawing in secondary school and achieved As in GCSE and A-level art. I then went onto study biology at university and finished my degree in April 2023. I have always loved animals and drawing them has become my passion.

I use a combination of Faber-Castell Polychromos, Caran d'ache luminance and Caran d'ache pablo pencils on hotpressed Fabriano Watercolour paper 300gsm.

Good Reference Photo

Good Reference Photo

Good Reference Photo

An ideal reference photo is a good quality head shot of your pet, preferably in natural lighting. This photo is good as its a close up head shot of the animal with good lighting.

Bad Reference Photo

Bad Reference Photo

Bad Reference Photo

This photo wouldn't be good to work from. This image is very blurry and taken too far away. As well as the lighting being too dark.
